Resolved To...

This weekend, I had the chance to go to Resolved. For those of you who do not know what that is, it's a Christian conference that features five of the top expository preachers in the United States, and maybe even the world. Although I've never read much of their material, I was pretty excited to see and hear what they had to say about the theme of "The Gospel." It really made me think a lot of about where I am in my life, and where I'm going. Right now I don't have much time to post on what I learned, because I want to honor God by productively using my time and plus I'm still thinking and reviewing my sermon notes.

Jonathan Edwards made a list of 70 resolutions in which to live his life by. After looking at most of them, I feel like I should adopt the majority. Even though I want to do that, I thought I would lay out a few of my own from stuff I've been learning about.

Resolved, to no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity, promotions, plaudits, or praise.
No more looking for worldly things, no more self-righteousness, no more actions for glory. I want to glorify God in word, action, and thought.

Resolved, to live by His presence, lean by faith, love by patience, live by prayer, and labor by power.
Time to rely on pure saving faith by trusting in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life, demonstrating love for my brothers and sisters in Christ and non-believers, pray constantly without ceasing, and to work by God's power.

Resolved, to not give up, shut up, let up, or slow up until I've preached up, prayed up, paid up, stayed up, and stored up for the cause of Christ.
I want to only have two modes: Going hard for God, and Going hard for God. You choose.

Let's Go

Awesome.

(I know only God is truly awesome, but being resolved to live for Him is a pretty close second.) :-)

it makes me glad to read your blog. It also gives me hope for the future of our bible study. There will always be a place for men of conviction to lead and defend the body of Christ. These will be the men who will carry the banner of truth in their generation and pass it on to the next generation. If you continue as you are doing, that is where you will find yourself.
